The art of fine watchmaking takes years to perfect. transcending time and space with intricacy and even passion –attributes worth celebrating on paper, to be sure. De Bethune has been breaking ground in the watch world for two decades, and luxury publisher Assouline celebrates that prowess in an impressive new tome.
“De Bethune: The Art of Watchmaking” is available now for pre-order at Assouline, and it’s a volume worth examining carefully and owning with pride.
Authored by watch expert and former journalist Arthur Touchot, the book is set to celebrate co-founder and master watchmaker Denis Flageollet as “one of the greatest horological minds of all time,” Assouline said in a statement.
Be it making a watch out of an actual meteorite or basing the precise Tourbillon Maxichrono off an old-world pocket watch, De Bethune is seldom at rest, and the brand takes its time with each watch–a fitting approach worthy of celebration in a luxury volume.
The company produces anywhere from just 15 to 250 watches per year, with prices ranging from $45,000 to a cool $300,000.
Rarity, exclusivity and otherworldly design are the name of the game with De Bethune, and Assouline recognizes this prowess, too.
“To own a De Bethune watch is to have a stewardship of an object with enduring totemic and historical significance,” the company said in a statement.
Accordingly, the hardcover book boasts more than 100 illustrations and clocks in at 220 pages, and includes contributions from an array of experts and collectors, including Jean Arnault and Michael Strahan.
Watch enthusiasts can pre-order the volume now online at Assouline for $195.
